Abstract

Through the survey and analysis of 100 Chinese proverbs whose words belong to the source domain of "objects" according to the conceptual metaphorical theory of cognitive linguistics, we have established seven models of metaphor concept of domain "objects". The research results show that these kinds of words in Chinese proverbs are mapped to different target domains such as people, things and life. The conceptual metaphor is a common way of thinking used by Chinese in forming the meaning of proverbs. By studying some of the facts in Chinese language teaching, we can provide implications in teaching in order to improve teaching effectiveness.
